This month on our New at SU Blog Hop we are featuring beauties from the August-January Mini Catalog!
So much in this catalog from Fall to Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Years to Valentines-and more!!!! lol While I'm such a summer girl & really not willing to let it go, I've been enjoying creating some fall cards!
Here's my card:
This is a very simple card from a very simple stamp set-Welcoming Woods. But I think it's just such a lovely stamp set!!! These trees!!! I love tree cards! Now the true stamp has more variation in the actual tree trunks. I wanted a more full trunk tho. So I filled in with my Early Espresso Stampin' Blends! Didn't really want the background showing through the middles of the tree trunks.
At first I thought I would put a ton of leaves & make it an early fall card, but I really liked how the shading came out & didn't want to cover it! lol
Now the shading was done with my inks & Blending Brushes! I love to blend colors, but I really don't believe I get it right often! I go too dark or too light, or wrong colors, etc. I think many of us are intimidated with blending like this. But I love how this came out. It was actually super easy! I think the Cajun Craze in the background almost looks like blurred trees in the distance. And the blue sky is as close to summer as I can get in a fall pic! lol
The background is the absolutely amazing Cork 12x12 Specialty Paper that is part of the Harvest Meadow Collection Suite. I thought it worked perfectly tho with the tree theme! It's a super nice textured DSP! A bit thinner than cardstock but heavier than actual paper. Plain on the back! Super easy to cut!
I would say this is a great masculine option for maybe a retirement, or a move, but certainly anyone would love to receive it! I left off bling so it would work for a masculine card. Add a little bling & could "girlie" it up!
I've had this Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon since it came out in the last catalog & have never used it-until recently-and now I have about 6" of it left-and can't wait to order some more! Wow, was I missing out on this! Such a nice ribbon to work with!!!!
Now hop over to Loni's blog & see her amazing creation! Simply click on her name here or the icon below! Then keep going! You will find a list of the creative blogs from around the world below! Don't miss out!
Happy Stampin'!
