COLORING WITH ROCKS & ARTICHOKES!!!

Ok, so got your attention!!!  This week's Coloring Down the Lines blog hop challenge is using River Rock & Always Artichoke! Interesting combo!

So welcome back! Hope you're visiting from Helen's amazing blog again!!! I can't wait to meet her in person at our big convention in Salt Lake City in July!!!! I hope her creativity will rub off on me!

So here's this week's card!

I love these feathers!!! Fine Feathers stamp set!  I hope they make the new catalog. I got them for some wedding invites I was asked to make & not sure what to do with them, but they are so light & airy!!!

I'm so disappointed to say goodbye to River Rock. Yup, it's a retiring color! I really like it, but I also must say the replacing colors work too! I'm glad I have a ton stashed up!! lol

I love this natural 7/8" Cotton Ribbon from the Spring Mini catalog! Hopefully that also  makes the big book!!! lol!!! I love that "natural" look!!!

I used Sassy Salutations for the sentiment! I find I need too many get well cards these days! Ugh!

Hard to tell, but there is a little bling in the feathers! I did stamp one of them with VersaMark & embossed with Dazzling Diamonds.  It's very subtle but adds a little pop to it all!!

So hope you like it! Probably the last challenge with this color combo! :( But that's ok, can't wait to use all the new colors!!!!  Retired list will be out later today!!! Be sure to check back!!

Now got hop to Liz's fantastic blog!! You know her card is a beauty!!!
I hope she's joining us in July also!!!

Happy Stampin'!!!

Using up some of my retiring colors! Gonna miss my Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, and River Rock!! While there r some great colors coming in to replace them, I still feel like I'm saying goodbye to some old friends!

So I polled out one of my new fave stamp sets Secret Garden! Of course I used the ever popular matching Framelits!!

Throw in a sentiment from the Oh, Hello set & ya got a pretty nice card-I think!

So we've been getting all kinds of sneak peeks of new items from the new catalog coming out June 1!!! I CAN'T wait!!!! They have made some really smart choices I think this time! They have chosen to "refresh' the color families!!!! Here's the new chart:
I know its a little tough to read but you can see the colors that are going bye bye!!! Here's what Stampin' Up! has to say about the Color Refresh:

" In 2010 when we did our big color renovation
we shared our plans for smaller color
                                                refreshes
every three to five years to keep our colors on
trend. Well it has been three
                                            years and
                                           we are
excited to announce that the upcoming 2013–
                                               2014 annual catalog
                                          will include 10 new colors
(most of which are returning In Colors® from
previous years)"
© 2013 STAMPIN’ UP! NA_0413

I think it's an awesome change! The color families tend to be more in the same hue if that make sense! They make more sense!
And just wait until you see the new In-Colors!!! Ooh la la!!!

So, if you're in need of any cardstock, ribbon, etc., in the retiring colors, be sure to ORDER NOW! Some are already gone! Once these color items are gone, they are gone forever. I personally will miss some of them, but they've made some great choices!

I'm so exited about the new catalog! I hope you are too! Watch for the new catalog Welcome Party-as well as the old catalog Retirement Party!!! Good stuff coming up!!

Happy Stampin'!

COLORING RED!

Before I begin our Coloring Down the Lines post this week, I must say that my heart is heavy with the events that occured in Boston yesterday at the marathon. I am a Massachusetts girl born & raised! I was actually born in & lived in Boston until my jr. high years. It's my first home. It was horrible watching the events unfold yesterday. Not to mention, my son & his fiancee were right there when it happened, & it was awhile before they were able to reach us to tell us they were ok. Tense moments. My prayers are with everyone involved-the runners who worked so hard for the race, the victims, their families, the emergency workers that had to endure that horrific scene, and the people of the city of Boston. But knowing so many there, they will not let this coward win! The city will come back stronger than before!

So now onto the blog hop! Hi there to my visitors from Helen's blog! Love her card this week!!!!

This week's colors were Cherry Cobbler & Riding Hood Red-incidentally, Riding Hood Red will be retiring with the new color refresh! Be sure to get your supplies now!!

Anyway, here goes:

So many of my customers ask me how I decide to design a card. I usually start with the stamp set. With these challenges, we are given specific colors, so I have to begin there.
These 2 colors were tough because they are so close.

So I got the colors out then went to the stamp collection & decided to pull out my Cross My Heart set from the Spring Mini. I used it quite a bit around Valentine's Day, but this is really more versatile than I thought! This is red, but not Valentine's in my opinion!!!

And of course must emboss!!!! The Lattice Embossing Folder works so well for this "double" embossing!!

Time for my close up Mr. DeMille!

I do use my Oval Framelits quite a bit. I like them-especially for something like this. It's a nice combination of rounded & square. I usually tend to stick with the same shapes, but I like the contrast here.

I pulled out my Beautiful Wings Embosslits to make the butterflies. It's kinda hard to tell, but I added some Crystal Effects to the butterflies & the flower to give a shiny pop! It's a bigger pop in person! lol

So now on to Liz's blog to see what's "poppin'" over there!!! Sorry, couldn't resist!! She rocks!!!

So I bid you a fond farewell until next time. Take the time to hug your loved ones & let them know you love them. You never know.

Happy Stampin'!

THE COLOR PURPLE

Welcome to another week of Coloring Down the Lines!! This week we are going purple-Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant!

You've probably hopped over from Helen's blog!! Glad you're here!!! Hope I can live up to her beautiful creation!!!

So these 2 colors are kinda tricky! They're VERY close!!! So here's my card this week!

I decided it's never too early to start on Mother's Day!!! So I'm into this new style of card! Just a base with a little 3x3 card attached!!! I think it's fun & different! I've given several of these & they seem to draw very positive reactions!!

I know its hard to tell in the pic, but the base and flower is Perfect Plum. The 3x3 card base is Elegant Eggplant. The stamping is also done with the Elegant Eggplant.  I tried to enhance it with my photo editing program because the 2 colors didn't really contrast in the photo! Hope you can see them here!!

I used my Secret Garden stamp set & Framelits! A  little watercoloring happenin' on the Whisper White.  I also used the brand new
Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set for the banner & the letters MOM!!! This is a great new product from Stampin' Up!! You can order them now! Hopefully there'll be more like them in the new catalog! Super sticky on the blocks & so easy to place. Be sure not to confuse them with the acrylic stamps! They're 2 different animals!!!!

Here's a close up of that flower!

And the inside!!!

Fun, huh? Like I said, different but packs a punch! Plenty of room for a simple sentiment and note.

Gotta love that Teeny Tiny Wishes!!! I think that's probably one of my most used stamp sets!!!

So please go visit Liz at her blog & tell her I said hi!!! Can't wait to see her creation!!!

Until next time!!!

Happy Stampin!!!

MORE MUSTARD & EARLY ESPRESSO SPRING!

Ok, so those 2 colors aren't normally what you think of when you think spring, right? Well at my demonstrator meeting recently, I was given the task of assigning a challenge! I tend to need  a reason to go totally outside the box, so I gave myself one!

The challenge was to use Early Espresso & More Mustard to create a Spring card!!!

So here it is!!!

I thought Spring=Sunshine!!! So I pulled out my
Single Stamp You Are My Sushine!! I LOVE this stamp!!! That song goes back to fond memories for me so when they first offered it I jumped on that one!!!

So I attempted to create a "sun" with my Pennant Parade stamp set & Pennant Punch.  I really like the way this turned out! Kinda different! A little thematic!  The only other "color" in the card is Very Vanilla!  Its tricky to use only 2 colors-especially if they're on the darker side.

I threw in a couple of little Boho Blossoms (Punch) for interest.
The Glimmer Brad in the middle is a perfect match! Kinda hard to see, but there's Dazzling Details all over the place!! Yes, I am a "bling" kinda girl!

So just wanted to share!!! These single stamps were supposed to be done, but they've continued them through July!!! Don't miss out on yours!!!!! You can find them HERE!!!

Happy Stampin'!!

COLORING BLUES!!!

Its time again for Coloring Down the Lines challenge!!! This week's colors are Marina Mist and Bashful Blue.
Now first glance at those colors makes me think "baby card"! So I decided, no, no baby card! Gonna go outside the box-sorta!!!

So welcome on over from Helen's blog!!! I hope you're having fun "hopping" today!!! I know Helen's great with the 2-color challenges!!!

So what d'ya think?

So I went with a sympathy card. I seem to always have need for those. Whether for myself or for my customers! They seem to be a hot commodity!

Whenever I do a sympathy card,I tend to think less is more. This is a fairly simple card, but it has some fun details!

First, I used my Secret Garden stamp set & Framelits from the
Spring Mini Catalog. I sure hope this set will appear in the new Catalog in May!!! It's very pretty & so versatile!

The first flower is stamped & embossed on the matte. The second is stamped & embossed on some Marina Mist cardstock & attached with a Glue Dot. The 3rd & top flower is stamped & embossed on Vellum then die cut. I used my
Aqua Painter & my inks & sorta watercolored the flowers for depth & texture. I also used a Dimensional on the flower on the bottom picture.

Add a few little Rhinestone Jewels & ya got a neat accent! I pulled out the almost forgotten 5/8" Crochet Trim!

So now hop over to Sandy's blog & see what she did with these 2 blues! I think I like them together! I know I'll love what she did!!!

So until next time..

Happy Stampin'!!!
